What Questions Should I Ask In A Job Interview?
Interviews are a two-way process; you are there to find out about the organisation and how you would fit in tool. Therefore, think about what you would like to find out about the organisation and responsibilities of the job. Most interviewers give you a chance to ask questions (generally towards the end of the interview). You should have a couple of prepared questions to ask the interviewer to show how interested you are in the job and company.
Some questions you might like to ask could include:
• Why is the position available?
• Is this a new role or a replacement?
• What type of training/induction course is on offer?
• Where is the job located?
• Are there any travel requirements?
• How many are in the team?
• Who will I be reporting to?
• Who will report to me?
• 'What do you see as the immediate challenges for me if I were to be given the job?
• How will you measure my performance?
• Will I get the opportunity to meet my Line Manager?
• What would the day to day responsibilities include?
• What are the realistic chances for growth in the job?
• How does the Company differ from your competitors?
• What skills are most important to succeed in this job?
• How does the interviewer feel the interview has gone?
• Can you tell me more about the structure of the organisation?
• How long is the probation period?
• How quickly are you looking for someone to take on this role?
• What challenges is the organisation currently facing?
If you are interested in the job you are being interviewed for, make this clear, and ask when you will hear about the Second Interview, next step or when they will have made a decision.
