Weaknesses In Your CV

Every job Seeker will have strengths and weaknesses in their CV and it is important to understand how to highlight the positives and if possible turn weakness into strengths. If you have obvious weaknesses in your CV you will be unlikely to be invited to a Job Interview. You should never lie on your CV as you will more than likely be found out; however, you can still make yourself attractive to a prospective employer without necessarily being dishonest.

Weaknesses Include:

• Gaps in your Employment History
• Numerous Jobs in a short period of time
• Having worked for one employer over a long period of time
• No Work Experience
• Lack of Further Education
• Only worked for small companies/large corporations

If you are called up for an Interview you should have a good idea what you are going to say in reply to questions about your weaknesses. In preparation, practise answers in a mock interview with friends or family. Try to turn weaknesses into strengths or highlight other achievements and skills that make up for the weakness e.g. If you do no have any work experience, use hobbies and interests to highlight skills such as teamwork and leadership.
